I tried to sleep late. Really I did.

Kidlets got up at dark-thirty, so I came down and let the wife stay in bed. Watched several shows on the Science channel on astronomy and astrology and missions to Io and Jupiter... Da Munchkin sat down and figured out how many Earths would fit in Jupiter if you ground them up (1.3 Trillion) which was kinda cool. Good use of her geometry.

Still need breakfast. Might make biscuits -- seems to be today's theme.

Cream Biscuits...

My Nanny (great grandmother) didn't like "Whop" biscuits.... biscuits you make by whopping a can on the counter to break it open...

So she told me how to make "real" biscuits, including a breakfast cream biscuit and a regular cream biscuit, both served with, or crumbled up in, buttermilk.

Not that I ever did either, mind you, but they were always better, when I made them, than anyone elses.

I finally figured out why.

I've been making scones all this time. Nanny liked cream and sugar in her biscuits (and sugar on her tomatoes, too, as I recall) so naturally they became something special. Now I have a house with lots of good food, and good memories. *sigh*
