tragedy confused....

What does it mean, that my first thought at the news today was "I'm glad I'm not in school anymore"? I imagined the hell that every OTHER school in the country is going through now, and will expand, in the coming weeks, as they try to figure out how to prevent or better contain things like crazy people with guns.

I want to teach, and I want to be a good professor, but I don't want to put myself where I can cost my children their father, or my wife her husband.... Even so, I have a driving desire to bring people to new knowledge....

The world has just had a cultural earthquake. Will there be a tsunami to follow?
