knife skills....
Apr. 21st, 2007 08:23 pmYay! Used my knife skills today to fine cut carrots, brocolli and stems, potato (to replace water chestnuts), onion, garlic, chicken, and shrimp, to make a really nice stir fry for dinner. Got help from the firfey to do the mise en place, which made cooking quite easy. Now I have about ten bowls to wash, but hey, that's life.
I *LOVE* the heft of the Shun santoku. And, I need to get my other knives sharpened again. Time to find Bladesmith (I think he's the one that goes to Cooks Warehouse on Tues/Thurs) and get my stuff tightened up.
Before I was done I used the wok to cook up a lot of ground lamb so I could freeze it for future recipes. It's been a productive day, and included a bit of time OUT of the house, too! I loved the smell in the air, the birds singing outside our windows (which we could open now that pollen counts are below 100), and planning the tomato beds for this year.
Oh, and I has a plaque! Hee!
