At 1:35pm yesterday I watched the shadows tick across the faerie rock in the front yard. A solitary crow landed on it, and tapped at it a few times before three other crows descended from the nearby trees to claw, bite, and otherwise thrash it into leaving. They walked around the rock once, like sentinels, then flew back up into the trees.

I went out and put a bit of whiskey soaked bread on the rock, and looked up at the sun to mark where it was. Inside, the firfey was asleep, recovering from a bout of stomach ick. Nothing ginger ale and some toast wouldn't help, of course.

I made my list, adding to it a few places and mistakenly removing one item I would later go back out to get. I woke up the girl, fed her some toast, and listened to her tell me how much better she was. We loaded up into the car and drove up the driveway. The bread was gone, and the crows were quiet. Shopping was easy, even if the rum was gone. Rum is pretty easy to get when you need it. Two more things went onto the list later, but they may not be needed.

Darkness fell, then the sun went down. Teatime passed without incident. Brown cats, stuck together with marshmallow fluff, remained in a box not unlike the box that a different crow perched upon, but with far less strontium 90. I think there are a few parrots and owls in the vicinity, too, but that would involve getting the body glitter out of the way.

Yesterday. And, holly around the house. Today passes, but not quite as fun. Some ivy in the back, and a song to the Oak, might make things different in the same way. Jesus thinks all is well, and he's taller than an empty-headed bear anyway, despite what the chicken says.

Can you make a taun-taun out of bricks? I made a dreidel out of mud. My chocolate is gone. So is half a bottle of rum. Candy is dandy, and that's all I have. What flavor towel tastes best?
