New Laptop....
So, after overwhelming reasoning by my friends list, I have decided to purchase a new laptop and retire the old one to be the front of a minor file server in the basement. I went to several laptop manufacturer's web sites, and checked with service companies and general ratings boards before I decided to stick with a Dell. I almost went with the Lenovo/Thinkpad, but the extra cost just wasn't worth it.
I'm glad I picked Dell, as my company has an employee purchase plan deal that, with the Dell anniversary sales, gave me over $1000 in discounts. Woo! So...
Intel Core Duo with 1GB Ram, 256MB ATI Radeon, 60 GB SATA/7200, with the 15" display (smaller I can't see, bigger is not a laptop), DVD+/-RW, and builtin WiFi/BT. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.
Now, for the waiting.....
