shout out....

A bit shout out and thank you to [livejournal.com profile] photognome who invited da elf and I to join him and a few others to dress as pirates and see PotC-III a bit early last night. And, it was fun, even if I had to stare straight up Depp's nose a few times.

Story was good. I had no idea that they would pay homage to "Attack of the 50 foot woman", but I did like the short burst at the end of the credits that helped offset the nasty way the movie started. Disney fans, take note -- this is a standard Disney video so someone has to die in the first 10 minutes. It's gut-wrenching, even.

No more spoilers from me. Pacing was good, but a bit more exposition instead of action would have been welcome. Further clarity of the legends and effects could have replaced special effects without any loss, and in fact would have done a lot to make it a better film. The DVD, with some repairs like that, would be a welcome addition to our catalog here.

Now, if I could just get the pics our gnome took, I could get my batch of files ready to send to UtiliKilts! :)

But the 50-foot woman didn't DO anything. If you're going to have an Attack of the 50-Foot Woman, she could have at least stomped through a town or something. Or waded over to another ship and torn the mast off. As it was, she just had a bad case of the crabs.

Ask and ye shall recieve... :-)

It's gut-wrenching, even.

Possibly moreso to parents, I guess, as I wasn't especially effected.

I thought that it had too much going on in some places and was hard to follow. OR, it could have been that after driving 16 hours with nothing much to do (sorry, wrong song) From Dahlonega to Lansing, Mi, that I was just tired. Still, what was with that ending? That's a definite setup for a fourth movie.

Well, Jack Sparrow did steal Barbossa's map to the Fountain of Youth...
