Got up early to get the munchkin to summer school. Best we could figure it out, she'd be going for five weeks, from 8-10 or 10-12.

Not so.

Apparently, she's in a lab class, and has class for five weeks, from 8am to 3pm. Daily. For material she knows, but couldn't be bothered to do the homework for, and thus failed even with a 90 on the exit exam. Kills my summer, and is putting quite the kink in my work schedule (I think I'll be taking da firfey to work a couple days each week, to deal with the scheduling problems).

So, I'm at home, working on both the computer and the back garden (the tiller is fixed! yay!), making sandwiches for da firfey, and finding a snake.

Little SnakeWhat kind am I?

Yes, relocated into a safer place in the yard away from evil tiller blades. If I can get out to get some stakes, I'll re-pot the tomatoes tonight.

I am so feeling your pain on this summer school thing. Totally.

looks like a diamond shaped head from the pic. That normally denotes it's poisonoues.(spelling?)

I'm all for relocating the nonpoisionous, but kill the poisionous ones as there are kids around my place. Not worth the risk.

Cool snake!

Of course, it's my theory that everyone has a good snake story or two.

I so know your pain. we're still waiting on info from our teenager doing the same thing with English class, since a D, D+, F(midterm, just never turned in the take-home-midterm), and a C do not give us hope for the final marking period + final.

and she wants to go to math camp.

found you on circe_tigana's flist and spotted the snake picture - looks like a common garter snake, also called ground rattlers and brown rattlers, because they imitate rattlesnakes as a defense sometimes, by vibrating their tail against leaves and brush. :) perfectly harmless little guys!

they're not always inclined to rattle - they're pretty sweet little snakes. kids find them and like them cause they're docile. and there are a lot of different kinds of garters - some green, some brown, some black and orange. :)

Were the snake's scales smooth or bumpy? (smooth like a python, or bumpier?)

It looks rather like a king snake.
