Strange thing, his music made me want to take cheese-graters to my ears and/or laugh, but I feel really bad about this. Way too young for one thing and he obviously brought joy to people...my Mom for one.
You know, I went to see him when I was in college. Camped out in line for the tickets, and got in the second row. I remember how cold it got that night, and how random homeless folks came over to see what the hell we were doing. Fogelberg had a cold, and he ditched a bunch of his own stuff in favor of doing covers ('Living on Tulsa Time' was one that stood out in my mind - I told one of the roadies after the show that I slept out in the cold to hear Fogelberg's work, not some random cover.) He lived in Nashville at the time (and so did I), but I never did run into him at the mall.
His albums were pretty much my go-to 'feeling sorry for myself' music all through school.
