When doing yardwork in a partially-wooded back yard, try to remember the old Boy Scout Maxim:

Leaves of three,
Get them in your hair and
Rub them on your neck
Trying to dislodge them
Before realizing what they are.

Where does one find Cortizone 1000%? ::sigh::

Anithistamine cream works better than cortizone for this sort of thing. Look for Benadryl topical (or a clone). After 3 or 4 applications, it will give you relief. For that matter, I find taking an oral antihistamine helps a little, too.

Poor thing. *soothes*

I used Zanfel last time I had the Ivy ::shudder:: (long time ago thankfully!) and it helped a lot! It's expensive for a tiny tube, if you can find it (some pharmacies don't carry it), but well worth the money! Gives at least temporary relief, and helps stop the spread or re-spread.

Zanfel:

A few years ago, I had poison ivy really bad, and two weeks later it was still all over my body, and I was miserable. Cordosone and Calomine lotion and etc. weren't doing a thing.

So I searched the web, and found that stuff. At the time, it wasn't FDA approved or something yet, and you couldn't buy it in stores, but a few weeks later you would be able to buy it in stores. But you could buy a jar of the stuff, undiluted, over the web. So I paid the $30 or so and it arrived 2 days later. And I was still itching like mad.

But I put that stuff on, and bam! The poison ivy literally stopped itching 30 seconds later.

I have what's left of that jar sealed in another jar, to prevent it from drying out, so that if I ever get it again, I'll have that stuff on hand.

Just a few weeks later, you couldn't buy the undiluted stuff, but you could get it diluted in a cream at a few specific drugstores.

I raved about it when a friend got poison ivy, and she went and got the cream.... and in her case, it didn't help, so I don't know, maybe the cream is too diluted.

I am so sorry - I hope it clears up soon. Oatmeal baths can also soothe (for a short time).
