Trying to dislodge them
Before realizing what they are.

Anithistamine cream works better than cortizone for this sort of thing. Look for Benadryl topical (or a clone). After 3 or 4 applications, it will give you relief. For that matter, I find taking an oral antihistamine helps a little, too.

Because of my reactions I have cortizone 2% (prescriptive) but we also have benadryl, so I'll give that a treatement right now and see if it helps.

I washed off using an industrial soap, then dish soap, then one of the organics. I wanted to kill the oil, then each soap downward until I had something that wouldn't irritate my skin. That did a lot for me, by itself. Even so...
